Decorative Concrete Staining in Atlanta

Color that lives inside the concrete, not on top of it. Concrete Masters applies acid and water-based stains to residential floors, patios, and walkways across Metro Atlanta, creating rich, translucent hues with the kind of natural variation that no two floors share.

How Concrete Staining Works

Concrete staining is not paint. Acid-based stains contain metallic salts that react chemically with the calcium hydroxide in concrete, producing permanent, translucent color that becomes part of the slab itself. The result is a mottled, variegated finish with natural depth that solid coatings cannot replicate.

Water-based stains work differently, depositing pigment into the concrete's open pores. They offer a broader color palette and more consistent, predictable results. Concrete Masters is certified by Westcoat for staining and decorative concrete systems.

Acid-Based Stains

Chemical reaction with the slab. Earthy, organic tones. Each floor is unique because the reaction varies with the concrete's mineral content.

Cola (deep brown)
Desert Amber (warm gold)
English Red (burnt sienna)
Azure Blue (blue-green patina)
Malayan Buff (sandy tan)

Best for: patios, entryways, living rooms, and pool decks

Water-Based Stains

Pigment penetration. Full color spectrum. More uniform coverage. Can be layered and blended for custom effects.

Bright whites and creams
Slate grays and charcoals
Terra cotta and brick red
Navy, cobalt, and teal
Custom-mixed colors

Best for: basements, kitchens, bathrooms, and interior spaces

Combination & Layered Staining

Concrete Masters frequently layers multiple stain colors or combines acid and water-based stains on the same floor to create depth, borders, and decorative patterns. Saw-cut score lines serve as borders between color zones, allowing tile-like geometric patterns without installing a single tile.

Where Concrete Staining Works in Atlanta Homes

Covered Patios & Porches

Acid stains in warm earth tones complement Georgia’s natural landscape and resist UV fading when sealed properly.

Driveways

Stained and sealed driveways stand out from plain gray concrete and resist tire marks better than bare slabs.

Pool Decks

Stained concrete paired with a slip-resistant sealer provides color, texture, and safety around pools.

Basement Floors

Water-based stains add finished color to below-grade slabs without moisture-trapping risk.

Living & Dining Rooms

Scored and stained concrete can mimic large-format tile or natural stone at a fraction of the cost.

Sunrooms

Stained concrete withstands direct sunlight and temperature swings better than wood or laminate.

Our Staining Process

Precision application for permanent, one-of-a-kind results.

1

Surface Preparation

We clean and profile the concrete to remove contaminants, sealers, or curing compounds that would block stain penetration.

2

Stain Application

Stain is sprayed or brushed in controlled passes. Acid stains react over 4 to 24 hours. Water-based stains dry faster for quicker layering.

3

Residue Neutralization

For acid stains, we neutralize the acid residue and rinse the surface clean. The true color reveals itself at this stage.

4

Sealer Application

A penetrating or topical sealer protects against moisture, staining, and UV damage. Sheen ranges from matte to high gloss.
